30th Annual SMRP Conference

The 30th Annual SMRP Conference attracted over 1,000 maintenance, reliability and physical asset management professionals and practitioners across nearly every industry for four days of networking, education, and certification. The conference was held at the Convention Center in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. There were over 130 exhibitors at the conference ranging from consulting firms to equipment suppliers and everything in between. Paul Crocker, Jason Herman and Dave Koncak, three members of the Kansas City Chapter of SMRP attended the annual meeting.

The keynote speaker’s was Captain D. Michael Abrashoff.

When Captain Abrashoff took over as commander of USS Benfold, a ship armed with every cutting-edge system available, it was like a business that had all the latest technology but only some of the productivity. Knowing that responsibility for improving performance rested with him, he realized he had to improve his own leadership skills before he could improve his ship. Within months he created a crew of confident and inspired problem-solvers eager to take the initiative and take responsibility for their actions. The slogan on board became "It's your ship," and Benfold was soon recognized far and wide as a model of naval efficiency. He wrote a book called “It’s Your Ship” a New York Times Bestseller. (continued)

The first day of the conference consisted of various maintenance and reliability workshops running from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The second day of the conference began with a great keynote speaker followed by various maintenance and reliability presentations throughout the day. The conference attendees had the opportunity visit the various exhibitors and network during the breakfast and lunch hours.

The third day of the conference consisted of various maintenance and reliability presentations throughout the day. The conference attendees had the opportunity visit the various exhibitors and network during the breakfast and lunch hours.

The final day of the conference consisted of various maintenance and reliability workshops running from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Also on the final day, a tour of the Novo Nordisk API US was offered to conference attendees. The Clayton, NC site is Novo Nordisk’s first production site for diabetes API outside of Denmark. The plant runs fermentation, recovery, and purification processes to deliver future active pharmaceutical ingredients for oral semaglutide of Rybelsus®.
